چکیده

We consider the performance of blind maximum likelihood sequence detection (MLSD) when the recursive leastsquares (RLS) algorithm is used to update channel estimates. We employ asymptotic efficiency analysis to characterize the performance of the detector as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) approaches infinity. Asymptotic efficiency analysis allows us to quantify the loss in performance due to the presence of intersymbol interference ( I S ) and the lack of channel knowledge. We show that, under certain conditions, the asymptotic efficiency of the detector depends only on a single most-likely noise realization. Our results indicate that the performance of the IUS-based detector is strongly dependent on both the magnitude of the IS1 and the number of data samples available.

Distance Enhancing Constraints for Noise Predictive Maximum Likelihood Detectors

|Using performance analysis of Reduced State Sequence Estimators (RSSE), we characterize dominant error events for a Noise Predictive Maximum Likelihood (NPML) detector. The error event characterization may be used to determine distance enhancing constraints that improve the reliability of NPML/RSSE detection. An example of a constraint that provides approximately :8 dB asymptotic coding gain f...

Local Maximum Likelihood Multiuser Detection for CDMA Communications

Third-generation mobile radio networks have been under intense research. Code division multiple access (CDMA) has emerged as the mainstream air interface solution for the third-generation networks. As the demand of usable bandwidth is ever increasing, multiuser detection is a necessary means for CDMA systems to reduce effect of multiple access interference and hence increase system capacity. Th...

MLSE Detection with Blind Linear Prediction and Subcarriers Interpolation for DSTBC-OFDM Systems

This paper proposes low-complexity blind detection for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with the differential space-time block code (DSTBC) under time-varying frequencyselective Rayleigh fading. The detector employs the maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) in cooperation with the blind linear prediction (BLP), of which prediction coefficients are determined by ...

A Family of Likelihood Ascent Search Multiuser Detectors: Approach to Single-User Performance by

Abstract – Since Tse and Verdú proved that the global maximum likelihood (GML) detector achieves unit asymptotic multiuser efficiency (AME) in the limit of large random spreading (LRS) CDMA, no suboptimal detector has been found to achieve unit AME. In this letter, we obtain that the WSLAS detector with a linear per-bit complexity achieves unit AME in the LRS-CDMA with a channel load < 1⁄2 − 1/...
